JW Dance has a large variety of classes offering numerous styles of dance. Styles include jazz/hip-hop, tap, ballet, modern expressive, contemporary, acrobatics, gymnastics, singing & drama, strength and flexibility, pre-schooler morning classes, boys only funk, adults jazz, Showgroup packages, Performing Arts packages, private tuition for Eisteddfods, examinations in Jazz, Tap and Ballet and Annual Concert work. Classes are available for students aged 2 years to adults and cater for a wide range of interests.
All fees, excluding the Showgroup/Performing Arts packages, are on a Pay As You Go basis. Classes are $8.00/45 minutes, $10.00/1 hour and $12.00/1.5 hours.

Duration: 1 hour. Students are taught the hottest new dance moves from their favourite hip-hop/pop music clips. New routines are taught each week to funky dance tunes and students are encouraged to discover and express their personal dance style in addition to improving fitness, stamina and flexibility.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable dance clothing, jazz shoes or sneakers.
Duration: 1 hour. Students have the choice of two classes. The first is a structured lesson following the FATD Tap Syllabus. Students learn and perfect their work and are invited to take their graded exam in Term 4. The second choice is a funky open class that follows the Tap Dog/Stomp Tap style to new and up-beat tunes. Lots of fun with a new routine each week.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable dance clothing and tap shoes.
Duration: 1 hour for Grades/1.5 hours for Majors. Students are taught the Royal Academy of Dance structured syllabus working towards optional exams in Term 4. Students wishing to do their exams must attend two lessons a week. During these lessons students develop a good understanding and awareness of their body through ballet technique as well as improving muscle tone, flexibility and posture. Ballet is an excellent grounding for all dance styles.
WHAT TO WEAR: Pre-Primary/Primary - leotard and skirt, pink ballet socks and leather ballet shoes.
Grade 1 to 8: Leotard, pink ballet socks or tights, character skirt, leather ballet shoes and black character shoes.
Major Students: Leotard with short chiffon skirt, pink ballet tights, leather ballet shoes and pink satin pointe shoes.
Duration: 1 hour. This class allows students to use their ballet technique in a more open and expressive way while being encouraged to add expression and freedom to their work. Students develop strong technique and posture. A great class for those who are studying ballet as well as those looking for a ballet alternative.
WHAT TO WEAR: Leotard and short chiffon skirt, soft-soled jazz shoes or ballet shoes.
Duration: 1 hour. This class teaches students various body isolations and control to a variety of tempos. Students are encouraged to express their own style and use their strength and flexibility to achieve unusual dance movement. Strength, control and improved musical rhythm are developed. New routines each week.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable dance clothing and no shoes.
Duration: 1 hour. Students are taught various acrobatic skills that can be used in dance routines. Forward/backward walk-overs, front and back flips, cartwheels with and without hands are the type of skills concentrated on. A great high energy class that improves overall strength and flexibility in the upper and lower body.
WHAT TO WEAR: Tight fitting dance clothing and no shoes.
Duration: 1 hour. Students follow a structured gymnastic program studying numerous skills including floor work, beam work, mini-tramp and floor routines. A great class for students wishing to study recreational gymnastics while improving their overall strength, stamina and flexibility.
WHAT TO WEAR: Tight fitting dance clothing and no shoes.
Duration: 1 hour. A combination class of musical theatre. Students are trained in singing as well as drama while concentrating on a particular musical such as Lion King and Annie. Students prepare a mini version of the musical and enjoy learning popular songs and dialogue while studying characters in the musical. A great class for improved self confidence and voice projection.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable dance clothing and comfortable shoes.
Duration: 1 hour. A great class for boys wanting to learn the latest funk/hip-hop moves to popular music by Eminem, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Black Eyed Peas. An up-tempo groovy class where boys will improve their co-ordination, rhythm and confidence.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable clothing and sneakers.

Duration: 1 hour. A great class for adults wishing to get back into dancing and enjoy learning new dance moves to their favourite songs. Lots of fun and a great atmosphere where everyone has a laugh while learning the routines. A fantastic way to stay in shape while improving co-ordination and rhythm.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable loose fitting clothing and well supportive shoes.
Duration: 1 hour. A strong body means a strong dancer. This class concentrates entirely on upper and lower body strength as well as repeated stretches to maintain maximum flexibility. Students are encouraged to continue their exercises at home to achieve maximum results and will be given a home program to follow. A very beneficial class for all students wishing to improve their overall dance performance.
WHAT TO WEAR: Tight fitting dance clothing and well supportive sneakers.

The Academy offers all students the opportunity to compete in numerous Eisteddfods throughout the year. If your child is interested in learning a routine for competitions as a soloist or duo/trio please see your child's teacher for further information.
The Academy offers all students the opportunity to perform in the Annual Concerts to be held at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre in December. This is a great night as the students love dancing on stage for all their family and friends. All students attending a syllabus class have the opportunity to enter the RAD Classical Ballet or FATD Modern & Tap Examinations in Term 4. Please remember that all examinations are optional and entirely up to the parent.
